How it works
Most people have the same photo saved in three or four places, with years of screenshots mixed in. Shutterfold sorts that out and only asks you to confirm the decisions.

Add your sources
Point it at folders, old drives, a Google Takeout zip, OneDrive, or the Photos library on your Mac. For Google Photos and iCloud we walk you through exporting first, which takes a few clicks.

Review what it found
Copies of the same photo are grouped and the best one is kept. Screenshots, receipts, forwarded memes and blurry shots go into their own piles. Albums are suggested from dates and places, like a December trip to Goa. You approve each pile in one go.

Save the clean library
Shutterfold writes one tidy library, with dates and locations fixed, to Google Drive, OneDrive, Apple Photos, Immich or Ente. The report lists every file that came in and where it ended up. Anything removed stays in a quarantine folder for 30 days.

Where it reads from
Shutterfold works with the files you already have. It doesn't ask you to move to a new cloud.
- Folders, drives and old phones
- Any disk, NAS, USB stick or copied phone folder.
- Google Photos
- Through a Google Takeout export. Shutterfold puts the dates and captions from Google's separate JSON files back into each photo and drops the extra copy Takeout makes for every album.
- iCloud Photos
- On a Mac, straight from the Photos library with originals. On Windows, from an iCloud export folder.
- OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive
- Sign in once and Shutterfold reads and writes your own folders.
- Immich and Ente
- Send the cleaned library straight into either one.

Questions
Where do my photos go?
They stay on your computer. The index, the duplicate groups and the report are saved on your disk. If you turn on AI sorting, a 512-pixel preview of each photo is sent to OpenAI to get its label. With your own OpenAI key, that preview goes from your computer to OpenAI and never through us.
Can it read my Google Photos directly?
Google stopped allowing that for outside apps in March 2025, so Shutterfold works from a Google Takeout export. It puts dates, places and captions back into each file and removes the extra copies Takeout creates for every album.
Does it work with iCloud Photos?
On a Mac it reads the Photos library directly, originals included. On Windows, export from iCloud for Windows or Apple's data and privacy page and add that folder.
Will it delete anything?
Only after you approve it. Removed files go to a quarantine folder for 30 days, and the report lists each one.
What does the AI do?
It sorts each photo into a type: photo, screenshot, receipt, document, forwarded image or blurry shot. It also suggests album names from dates, places and what's in the pictures, such as "Goa, December 2023". Duplicates and burst shots are found by comparing the files themselves, without AI.
Is it a subscription?
You pay once. Later there may be an optional plan that tidies new photos automatically, and the app you bought keeps working without it.
Why pay before it's finished?
It tells us people want this before we spend months building it. Founders get the first build and help decide what we add. If we don't ship what's described here, we refund you.
